Great things are happening at Fort Pierce Westwood! We are very proud to announce that Fort Pierce Westwood has been chosen as a pilot school site for a new technology initiative called @ccess Now.

. @ccess Now is a fundamental shift in teaching and learning to support the mission of St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS): to ensure all students graduate from safe and caring schools, equipped with the knowledge, skills and desire to succeed.

Students will have access to a digital learning device and personalized, blended interactive curriculum.

What is the device that teachers and students will recieve?

SLPS will use the Dell 5450. This is the learning tool of choice to begin the pilot phase of the SLPS’S conversion to a 1:1 digital learning environment.

When will the device be available to teachers and students?

– 2015-2016 Students and Teachers at pilot high school sights

– 2016-2017 Expand program to inculde additional high schools

– 2017-2018 Continue expansion as budget allows

Will my student bring the device home?

The current plan is that the devices will go home with the students.

What will happen if my student damages the device?

The Dell 5450 was selected for its premium materials like, scratch resistant glass, magnesium chassis and spill resistant backlit keyboard. However, accidents do happen. Each device comes with an accidental damage warranty. Each student and teacher will receive information regarding the proper care of the Dell 5450 when they receive the device.
