Welcome to Mariposa Elementary- the Home of the Monarchs- one of the largest elementary schools in St. Lucie Public Schools housing students in grades K-5, along with our VPK program. Over the past eleven years, I have had the privilege and honor of being the principal of Mariposa. We are blessed with a wonderful staff, students, and parents. Since 2005, we have earned a school grade of “A” from the state of Florida four times. Our school of over 700 students has been recognized by the state’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) program as a model school. Achieving the Silver Level two years in a row and as a Bronze Level recipient the past two years. Mariposa has also received the state’s Gold Award and the Five Star Award five years in a row from the Florida Department of Education. For the previous five years, our school has participated in the NEED (National Energy Education Development) project and attended the National NEED Conference in Washington, D.C. placing as a State Finalist four times and a National Level finalist three times. We also offer afterschool musical opportunities- chorus and band. Additionally, we have an active PTO headed by our president Michele Rubenstein, that meets on the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 in the Parent Resource Room. Please consider joining this very important organization this year, as well as our School Advisory Committee or SAC for short. I am enormously proud of our students, staff, and parents here at Mariposa. Come visit us and you’ll see why!
