Welcome to School Year 2017-2018

marWelcome to Mariposa Elementary – the Home of the Monarchs. This past year, we had the distinction of having the largest gain on our FSA scores of all the elementary schools in St. Lucie County and the second highest gain district wide of all our schools, raising our school grade to a B. Mariposa is one of the largest elementary schools in St. Lucie Public Schools housing students in grades K-5, along with our VPK program and two self-contained ESE classes. Over the past twelve years, I have had the privilege and honor of being Mariposa’s principal. We are truly blessed with a wonderful staff and outstanding students and parents. Since 2005, we have earned a school grade of A from the state of Florida four times and we are “knocking at the door” for our fifth one. Our school of almost 700 students has also been recognized by the state’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) program as a model school, achieving the Silver Level Award two years in a row and for the last two years as a Bronze Level Award recipient. Mariposa has also received the Florida’s Department of Education Gold Award and the Five Star Award for many years. Additionally, we have a fabulous PTO headed by our president Michele Rubenstein that meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 in the Parent Resource Room. I am enormously proud of our students and staff here at Mariposa. Come visit us and see firsthand why we’re a school that believes AND achieves!

Sincerely,

R. Craig Logue
