@ccess Now is a fundamental shift in teaching and learning to support the mission of St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS): to ensure all students graduate from safe and caring schools, equipped with the knowledge, skills and desire to succeed.
Students will have access to a digital learning device and a personalized, blended, interactive curriculum.
What is the device that students will receive?
The Dell 5450 is the learning tool of choice for our 1:1 digital learning environment.
When will the device be available to students?
The 2017-2018 distribution will take place in August 2017 and throughout the school year as needed.
Will my student bring the device home?
The devices will go home with the students. We urge students to handle the laptops as if they paid their own $1000 to purchase them.
How much is the laptop fee?
The laptop fee will be $25 plus the cost of a cover for carrying the laptop.
What does the laptop fee cover?
The $25 fee warrants mechanical damages such as the motherboard and power supply. It does not cover damages such as cracked screens, intentional damage, or negligence. Students with these types of damages may lose their privileges to use @ccess Now laptops and consequently will have to use pencil and paper in all their classes.
With greater access to technology also comes the need for educators and parents to work together to help students understand how the digital world works. As educators and parents we must let our students know the importance of cyber citizenship. We look forward to working with you.
