2016- 2017 DRESS CODE FOR PARKWAY ELEMENTARY

Shirts:   Must be correctly sized, in good shape, and must be solid or striped in color. (NO PLAID)

  • All shirts must have a collar (golf, turtle neck or Oxford style).
  • All shirts must have sleeves.
  • All shirts must be tucked in.
  • Parkway “spirit” or school sponsored t-shirts may be worn any day.
  • Shirts can have a small embellishment no larger than a quarter (manufacturer’s emblems).

Pants:     Must be solid in color, correctly sized and in good shape

  • Jeans are permitted.
  • All pants must be worn at the waist. Belts must be worn if there are belt loops.
  • Pre-K and Kindergarten students are encouraged to wear pants with elastic waistbands.
  • Camouflage and plaid are not acceptable.

Shorts/skirts/dresses:  Must be solid in color, correctly sized, and in good repair

  • All shorts/skirts/dresses must be fingertip length, even when worn with leggings or shorts, (which also must be solid in color)
  • All shorts/skirts must be worn at the waist. Belts must be worn if there are belt loops.
  • Camouflage and plaid are not acceptable.

Shoes:  Shoes must be safe and in good repair

  • Shoes must have closed toes and heels. If shoes have shoelaces, the laces must be properly laced and tied.
  • All shoes with heels must be less than one inch high.
  • No shoes with wheels may be worn on school grounds.

Outer Garments:

Unless outer garments such as jackets, sweatshirts, and sweaters conform to the dress code as outlined above, they are not to be worn inside the school building or hybrids.  Jackets may not be worn around the waist or as a cover for blouses and shirts not in dress code.  Outer garments must be correctly sized and worn appropriately.  No hooded garments allowed.

Hats may not be worn in the building.

Natural hair color only.

Administration reserves the right of final decision of questionable attire.

 

Compliance with school dress code is required.

Non-compliance after being warned by the teacher will result in a discipline referral.
