October 19 is UNITY DAY

Posted on Oct 17, 2016

Together against bullying — united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Make it ORANGE and make it end! What are your true colors when it comes to bullying? If you care about safe and supportive schools and communities make your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That’s the day everyone can come together – in schools, communities, and online – and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Students can be especially effective in bullying intervention. More than 55 percent of bullying situations will stop when a peer intervenes.

Silence is no longer an acceptable response to bullying. Ignoring it won’t work. Everyone needs to be empowered with options to respond.

Bullying is a community-wide issue that must no longer be ignored.

Every child has the right to feel safe and supported.
