Family Reading Festival

Debbie Remington, Manatee Academy Media Specialist and President of the St. Lucie County Reading Festival, offers the ceremonial scissors to Superintendent Michael Lannon to cut the ribbon kicking off the first annual Family Reading Festival at Mets Stadium recently that hosted over 900 attendees. Mr. Lannon was impressed with the organization of the event as well as the number of published authors speaking and the dedication of the hard-working members of the sponsoring St. Lucie County Reading Council, which is comprised of media specialists, teachers, reading coaches and administrators. Some of the sessions included a Used-Book Exchange, Reader’s Theater, Scholastic Book Fair, Puppet Shows, Reading Games, Poetry Slam, Mother Goose and Waggin’ Tales.
