{"id":61,"date":"2011-10-24T15:54:55","date_gmt":"2011-10-24T15:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schools.stlucie.k12.fl.us\/man\/?page_id=61"},"modified":"2024-11-26T14:11:40","modified_gmt":"2024-11-26T19:11:40","slug":"resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.stlucie.k12.fl.us\/man\/resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Arrival &amp;amp; Dismissal Procedures<\/h3>\n<h4>Arrival<\/h4>\n<p>School begins at 8:30 a.m.<br \/>\nNo student should arrive before\u00a08:00 a.m. <strong>No supervision is provided before\u00a08:00 a.m<\/strong>.<br \/>\nUpon arrival, students should report to their assigned classroom or breakfast.<br \/>\nParents will be allowed to walk students to class the first week only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Car Riders<\/strong> &#8211; Drop students off only in areas where staff members are located to assist students. Encourage child to be ready with bookbag, books, lunch money, jacket, etc. to exit the car quickly.<br \/>\n<strong>Bicycle Riders<\/strong> &#8211; A rack is provided to lock student bikes. The school can not assume the responsibility for lost or stolen bicycles. Please provide your child with a lock for his\/her bike.<\/p>\n<h4>Dismissal<\/h4>\n<p>School ends at\u00a03:00 p.m.<br \/>\n<strong>Students should be picked up no later than 3:15<\/strong>. Staff members will open car doors after identifying the drivers. A sign with child(ren)\u2019s name and grade (teacher optional) should be visible for faster identification.<\/p>\n<p>Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s Club \u2013 Students dismissed to cafeteria at 3:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bus Riders<\/strong> \u2013 Individual busses will be dismissed beginning at 3:00. Bus students remain in their classroom until their bus\u00a0wave is called over the intercom\/displayed on TV system.<\/p>\n<h4>Change in Transportation Routine<\/h4>\n<p>If there is a change in a student\u2019s routine, send written notification to the school. SLC Transportation must approve any bus change. All notes will be verified per a telephone call to the parent. No changes may be made in your child\u2019s transportation arrangement after\u00a02:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<h4>Tardies<\/h4>\n<p>Any student arriving after 8:30 a.m. must report to the office with a parent\/guardian for a late pass. Tardies will be marked on the report card and will be counted against a student for Perfect Attendance. Consistent tardies are turned over to the Guidance Office for further action.<\/p>\n<h4>Picking Students Up Early<\/h4>\n<p>Students lose valuable instructional time when picked up early from school. This will be counted against a student for Perfect Attendance. A parent, guardian, or designee must show proper identification before signing the student out in the Main Office. No student will be released from class until the parent has arrived in the office. <strong>Students will not be released after 2:00 p.m.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Bus Information<\/h3>\n<p>The St. Lucie County School System provides bus transportation for students living more than two (2) miles from school. However, if a student\u2019s behavior creates a safety hazard on the bus, it will become the Administration\u2019s duty to deprive the student of the bus riding privilege for a number of days. Parents will be notified. Bus suspensions do not excuse a student from attending school. The following rules are to be observed on a bus (including Field trips):<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stay on Task<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00b7 Sit in your seat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take Responsibility<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00b7 Arrive at the bus stop five (5) minutes ahead of the scheduled time<br \/>\n\u00b7 Keep bus clean<br \/>\n\u00b7 Look, listen, talk quietly<\/p>\n<p><strong>Act Safely<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00b7 Keep everything inside the bus<br \/>\n\u00b7 Wait to bus to stop before moving<br \/>\n\u00b7 Remain in the loading area \u2013 not the street<\/p>\n<p><strong>Respect Others<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00b7 Keep hands to yourself<br \/>\n\u00b7 Listen to driver\/aides<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Homework<\/h3>\n<p>Homework is assigned Monday \u2013 Thursday. Amount of work is dependent on grade level and increases each year. In addition, all students should read every night and discuss what they have read with a parent\/guardian. Homework, quiz\/test dates, and projects should be written in this Planner.<\/p>\n<p>Homework Suggestions:<br \/>\n\u00b7 Create a quiet place to work.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Designate a daily time for homework.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Have necessary supplies in the homework area.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Review the completed assignment.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Organize all materials for the following morning.<\/p>\n<h4>Progress Reports<\/h4>\n<p>Parents may review their child&#8217;s progress at anytime by logging in to the Skyward Family Access. If you have not yet registered for an account, please do so by visiting our front office and asking for assistance with this.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Code of Conduct<\/h4>\n<p>The School Board issues the Student Code of Conduct to each family for thorough review and understanding of the guidelines effecting student behavior in school. This document is to be read with your child. The back page should be signed and returned to your child\u2019s teacher.<\/p>\n<h4>Zero Tolerance<\/h4>\n<p>When it comes to students who are making poor choices concerning alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and\/or weapons, Manatee<br \/>\nAcademy has a Zero Tolerance Policy. None of the above items are ever allowed on campus for any reason, by any person, including adults. Manatee Academy, as all other Public Schools, is a Drug Free Zone and carries all legal protection of that designation.<\/p>\n<h4>Unauthorized Items<\/h4>\n<p>Do not bring any toys and\/or electronic devices including but not limited to:<br \/>\nRadio\/CD, DVD Players\/Walkman, CDs\/DVDs\/Cassettes, IPOD\u2019s\/MP3 Players, Gameboys<\/p>\n<p>Heelies, Collectible Cards, Nonessential Money, Beepers, Laser Pointers are not permitted.<\/p>\n<p>These items are disruptive to the classroom and will be confiscated by the Administration. Any items confiscated will only be released to a parent\/guardian. Manatee Academy is not responsible for any unauthorized items which are lost or stolen. Neither the Administration nor our SRO will conduct a search or an investigation if this occurs. This includes incidents on the bus.<\/p>\n<h4>Cell Phones<\/h4>\n<p>If a student brings a cell phone to school it must be turned off and kept in his\/her bookbag during the school day.<br \/>\nAny cell phone that is not turned off or is visible will be confiscated by the Administration and only released to a parent\/guardian. Manatee Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones and will not investigate if this occurs.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"content\" role=\"main\">\n<h4>Visitors<\/h4>\n<p>All visitors, including those belonging to groups listed on this page, must report to the Main Office, sign in and receive a Visitor\u2019s Pass before proceeding to any part of the campus. The Pass must be visible at all times while on our school site. To visit a classroom, 24 hours notification is required.<\/p>\n<h4>School Resource Deputy (SRD)<\/h4>\n<p>Manatee has a SRD employed by the Sheriff\u2019s Dept., to maintain the safety on campus. In addition, the deputy may conduct classroom lessons on safety issues \u2013 examples, Halloween, strangers, and internet safety\/cyber bullying.<\/p>\n<h4>Drills<\/h4>\n<p>Manatee staff and students conduct regular fire, tornado, code red and evacuation drills. Staff members are updated and trained frequently on safety concerns.<\/p>\n<h4>Nuclear Power Plant Evacuation Plan<\/h4>\n<p>In the event that an emergency occurs at the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant located on Hutchinson Island, students will be transported to the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds, 15601 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce.<\/p>\n<p>Parents should: Not pick up your child(ren) from school;\u00a0 Listen to local radio &amp; television for a press release of when you may pick up your child(ren) from the fairground.<\/p>\n<h4>Sexual Harassment Policy<\/h4>\n<p>We are committed to having a positive learning and working environment that is free of harassment on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, marital status, disability, or handicap.
