This officially broke a two-year hiatus of students performing on stage. Students and parents alike were overjoyed to hear three different performing ensembles. The three ensembles were tubano drumming, chorus, and Orff xylophone band. The selected fourth and fifth grade students dedicated after-school time to participate in preparing music for their ensemble.<\/p>\n<p>The tubano drumming ensemble opened the concert playing drum patterns sequenced to holiday songs. \u201cAll I Want For Christmas Is You\u201d by Mariah Carey, \u201cFeliz Navidad\u201d by Jos\u00e9 Feliciano, \u201cRockin\u2019 Around The Christmas Tree\u201d by Brenda Lee, and \u201cA Holly Jolly Christmas\u201d by Burl Ives were all performed. Along with a rocking closer from \u201cWizards In Winter\u201d by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>The chorus filled the cafeteria with confident singing. Selections were \u201cHanukkah Is Here\u201d by Karl Hitzemann, \u201cKeep The Candles Going\u201d by Teresa Jennings (featuring solos by Alexandra Torres and Abigail Negron), \u201cO Kwanzaa\u201d by Teresa Jennings, \u201cChristmas Night\u201d by Mike Wilson, \u201cRed Bird\u201d by Teresa Jennings, and a closer of \u201cFiesta De Navidad\u201d by Mike Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>The Orff xylophone band was the last ensemble to perform. The students started and ended their own performance without any teacher assistance. They played \u201cTroika! A Russian Sleigh Ride\u201d composed by Jeff Henson along with \u201cMasquerade Ball\u201d arranged by Jeff Henson. Their enthusiasm and pride shined throughout the performance.
