Library Development Plan<\/span><\/h3>\n

Effective July 1, 2022, each book newly made available to students through a school library media center or included in a recommended or assigned school or grade level reading list must be selected and approved by a Media Specialist who holds a valid educational media specialist certificate, regardless of whether the book is purchased, donated or otherwise made available to students. How to Search for Library Resources<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Student Identification Cards<\/span><\/h3>\n

All students receive their first student ID card after they take their school photo each year.  If a student does not take their school photo they may come to the Media Center and receive one FREE school ID each year.  After that the cost is $5.00.<\/p>\n

Library Media Program<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Media Center is established to be an integral part of the school’s overall educational program. It supports the school’s curriculum by working cooperatively with teachers to provide a variety of print and audio\/visual materials and equipment for use by teachers and students. The Media Center Staff not only provides materials and service, but also assistance in their effective use.<\/p>\n

Checking Out Books<\/span><\/h3>\n

Most books can be checked out for two weeks with renewal privileges if the books have not been requested by another person. Periodicals may be checked out for two nights. Four items at a time may be checked out.<\/p>\n

Returning Books<\/span><\/h3>\n

Fines are not charged for overdue materials, but items are expected to be returned on time to check out additional materials. If a book is lost or damaged while it is checked out, the person the book is checked out to must pay for the book or the amount of damage occurred. A dollar fine is charged for lost date-due cards. Books and materials should be returned in the book drop at the circulation desk.<\/p>\n

Passes Required<\/span><\/h3>\n

All students entering the Media Center during the school day must present a pass from their teacher.<\/p>\n

Other Information<\/span><\/h3>\n

Library Access Forms<\/strong><\/span> – St. Lucie Public Schools would like you to determine your child\u2019s level of access to check out books in the media center. Therefore, please complete this form within Skyward Parent Portal or by filling out the back page and returning it to your child\u2019s school. *Access to reading materials will not be restricted if a form is not submitted on behalf of your child.<\/p>\n

Printing<\/strong><\/span> – Available for students at 10 cents per page for black\/white or 25 cents per page for color.  Please email any file you want copied to Kelly.Brown@stlucieschools.org<\/p>\n

Group Meetings<\/strong><\/span> – Groups are welcome to utilize the Media Center for meetings and special school events. You are asked to:
