Sybil Bell, Civics instructor, has arranged for speakers to come each Thursday in February to celebration Black History Month.
\nOn February 6th, Andre Barnes, art teacher, and Martin Steward, technology teacher, spoke to our students and encouraged them to bring out their talents, stay focused and avoid distractions as they move through life. There was an art show of original paintings of historical and well-known famous people like Lebron James.
\nOn February 13th, Dr. Mills, SLPS board member, spoke on putting action to the change you want to see by being the change yourself and by volunteering to help others with the same vision.
\nStudents engaged in a Black History trivia game prior to having speakers present and gave recognition awards after the presentations. The event has been absolutely wonderful and highly educational. Students are very receptive to the speakers and are excited for the next weeks’ presentations.#SLPSMagnet<\/p>\n
