Transportation must be provided and student is responsible for the cost of books &amp; material). Contact your assigned guidance counselor for more information.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How many volunteer hours are required for graduation?<\/p>\n<p><em>Answer:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Volunteer hours are not a high school graduation requirement. However, requirements for various University\/Scholarships differ.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How do I earn credits and how many are needed to graduate?<\/p>\n<p><em>Answer:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Each semester class is worth .5 credits. You are required to take 7 classes per semester. If you pass all of your classes, you will earn 3.5 credits each semester, 7.0 credits per year, and 28 credits over your four years of high school.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A total of 24 credits (4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 1 HOPE, 1 Performing Art, 8 electives) are required for graduation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How do I change my schedule if I don\u2019t like the classes I have?<\/p>\n<p><em>Answer:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Changes to schedules are granted on a limited basis and can only occur through your guidance counselor. During the first week of school a \u201c<u>Schedule Change<\/u>\u201d form can be picked up from your SLC office (<strong>before school, during lunch, or after school ONLY<\/strong>). Forms can be submitted to your guidance counselor for consideration but will only be approved based on seat availability. Finally, it is quite common for students NOT to get their first choice in some subjects. It is therefore extremely important that an alternative choice is picked when initially selecting classes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When will I get my actual class schedule?<\/p>\n<p><em>Answer:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Schedules will be available during open house just prior to the start of the school and will also be available on skyward\u00a0<\/em><em>(hyperlink)<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do I have to take a world language?<\/p>\n<p><em>Answer:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>No. World language is not a high school graduation requirement. However, two to three years of instruction in one world language is required for admission to most four year colleges and is also needed for many scholarships.
