States of Matter

Grade 5 students of White City Elementary are learning about the states of matter.  Mr. Lewis’s facilitated learning as the students determined if matter can be more than one state at a time.  In order to answer this questions, they observed dry ice, made oobleck and created slime.

Hispanic Heritage Night

All families of White City Elementary were invited to attend Hispanic Heritage Night.  Students and parents shopped at the book fair, toured the Hispanic Heritage Gallery, and munched on tacos.  It was a fabulous, well attended parent night at WCE.

Tunnel of Hope

White City Elementary kicked off to a great year with help from some Community Partners.  We created a Tunnel of Hope and every student walked through showing excitement and ready for a successful year!

“Hall of Fame”

The students of White City Elementary have created a Black History Hall of Fame which celebrates the accomplishments of African Americans. Students are learning about the contributions of influential African Americans.  Classes are conducting research and discovering the accomplishments of historical figures.

Guest Reader Day

Guest Reader Day at White City Elementary was a great success.  Community Members read Have You Filled a Bucket Today by Carol McCloud.  Students enjoyed the heartwarming book which encourages positive behavior through kindness, appreciation, and friendship.
