Relay for Life Saturday April 26th

Relay for Life is a community cancer fundraising event. There are many regions across the country that hold a Relay for Life each year. Our region is St. Lucie West and within each region teams sign up to raise money. The event itself takes place on Friday, April 26th starting at 6 PM and continues until Saturday morning ending at 9 AM. The organization of the event is to symbolize the struggle that cancer patients and their families go through.

The teams are set up in a large oval of booths. The inside of the oval is the “walking track” where team members and community members come to walk around through the night. The booths that border the track follow a theme and sell food and other items. This year’s theme is “Cities Across America.” SLE’s theme is Philadelphia and we will be selling Philly Cheese Steaks and other items.

There are many events going on during the evening and night of Relay. A stage is set up with music and most teams stay through the night. So far we have raised $1100! It is a powerful and meaningful event to everyone whose life has been touched by cancer. Hope to see you there either to walk or just to hang out at our booth!

Take this special week, and show your Child’s teacher you appreciate them and all they do for your child’s education. PTO will be putting small items together for all staff to show our gratitude.
