Ceramics I

An introduction to sculpting with clay. This 3D class teaches an overview of the elements of art and principles of design using clay as a media, tools, equipment, and hand-building techniques, while understanding personal voice, artistic expression, and visual interest.

Ceramics II

An intermediate course that primarily focuses on the major concepts and skills of wheel-throwing. This course builds on the hand-building foundations established in Ceramics I going beyond the basics to refine artistic choices, style, personal voice, creative expression, and aesthetic form.

Ceramics III

An Honors level course that focuses on major projects, advanced wheel-throwing and hand-building. Students challenge their artistic vision and appropriately risk-take by approaching new visual problems. Students will solidify personal meaning-making, artistic vision, innovative problem-solving, and challenges in design.

AICE Art & Design

An Oxford Cambridge course, with the highest-level art course offered at FPC. This course allows self-sufficient artists the freedom to assemble portfolio-like compositions each semester. During the first semester, students self-select a meaningful concept to explore through a variety of media and techniques. Then, during semester two, AICE provides 5 global topics from which all students choose, culminating in a 15-hour art-making exam. As a part of the AICE coursework, if successful in the class and the exam, this class contributes towards the AICE diploma.
