Children enrolled in the full-time virtual program are considered full-time public school students. Although students school predominantly from home they are not considered “homeschool students” but rather public school students attending St. Lucie Public School District Program. Therefore, program administration and implementation follow all requirements of the public school program mandated by the Florida Department of Education.
MANDATORY ASSESSMENT PARTICIPATION: Students enrolled in district virtual school programs are considered public school students and are required to participate in all state and district mandated testing. This may include but is not limited to diagnostic testing, progress monitoring, training tests, FSA, FCAT, etc. Tests are administered at a designated testing center and parents are required to provide all transportation to and from these sessions at the specified times and days. Students failing to participate in required testing will not be eligible to re-enroll in a district virtual instruction program.

IMPORTANT: Parents interested in enrolling their student in a virtual program in St. Lucie County should not withdraw their student from their current school until the student has completed the current semester. Once the parent receives confirmation their child has been accepted to the virtual program this will trigger the student transfer from within the district to the virtual program. If the child is withdrawn prior to acceptance this may jeopardize eligibility into the virtual program.
