The annual Crown Jewel Marching Band Festival is held in Vero Beach at the Citrus Bowl. Founded in 1981, it is one of the oldest continuous marching festivals in Florida. It has approximately 25 bands competing in 5 classifications every year with judges ranging in backgrounds, including BOA, DCI, WGI, FBA, FMBC, FFCC training, and adjudicating. On October 12th, Treasure Coast bands competed in the 42nd annual event in a one-tiered contest consisting of the following classifications:
- Open Class (Comments): any size band – performing for comments only
- Open Class (Ratings): any size band – performing for rantings only
- Bronze Class: bands with 69 or less students
- Silver Class: bands with 70-99 students
- Gold Class: bands with 100-125 students
- Platinum Class: bands with 126 or more students
Fort Pierce Central High School made history as they took home the Overall Best Band award at the 42nd annual Crown Jewel Festival of marching bands. This was the first time that the school had won the award, making the victory even sweeter. Despite the tough competition, Fort Pierce Central High School’s band stood out with their impressive performance.
The band’s hard work and dedication paid off as they wowed the judges and the audience with their precision and musicality. The band’s director, Joshua Daniels, was thrilled with the win and praised the students for their hard work and commitment to excellence.
