Ms. Lacey Fox, a Kindergarten teacher at Northport K-8, will be featured on Sirius XM The Beatles Channel / MyFab4 as a guest DJ introducing a band that has influenced her entire life – The Beatles.
“I have a strong connection with the Beatles music,” said Fox. “My older siblings always had it playing when I was little, and I associate it with wonderful childhood memories. I loved getting a chance to have my favorite Beatle songs played and have a chance to share some of the background info from each of them.”
Fox states that for the SiriusXM segments she focused on songs that aren’t played as frequently as their top hits.
Auditioning and being selected to bring her passion to life for the Beatles on the radio was a once in a lifetime opportunity, according to Fox. However, her love for the iconic boy band runs deeper than a one-time radio host gig.
“As a high school student, I would create drawings for Beatlefan Magazine and two of my pen and ink art pieces were discovered by an author named Marc Catone, who contacted me to ask permission for them to be published in a book called As I Write This Letter,” said Fox.
In addition to being a published artist, she also created artwork for a website called Beatles Art Online and her Giclee prints were included in the New York and Chicago Beatle Fests, as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Abbey Road on the River festival.
A lot of Ms. Fox’s talent is embedded right here at Northport K-8. Her creativity transfers over to her professional life nicely as she volunteers her time to beautify the school, as well as brings her love for art in general to the students she impacts every day.
“All of my students know how to properly sketch and watercolor when they leave me at the end of the year.”
Ms. Fox also spearheads the annual county fair competition with her colleagues as a representation of Northport K-8. The team has won awards several years in a row.
