Guidance Counselors from Southport Middle School and Village Green Elementary School coordinated a wonderful reception for Southport’s incoming students for the 2024-2025 school year. Ms. Bernard and Mrs. Cannon’s presentation and a tour of the school gave the future Canes a glimpse into middle school life.
The day included a fun ice breaker with SPMS Assistant Principal Dr. Roy in the Media Center, after which guidance counselors presented the course selection process and the electives that they will be able to choose to take at Southport. Elective teachers were there to address the group and introduce their students for awesome performances for each of the electives. Afterwards, the students broke up into groups for the grand tour by the SPMS Peers as Partners in Learning group. Village Green students shared how impressed they were with the classrooms they visited, and the excitement generated by our fabulous elective teachers lasted the entire trip.
