Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It is our goal to provide a positive experience for our students as they work toward meeting the requirements for entrance into high school. At Southport we continue to embrace and teach our students to have a Growth Mind Set. Having a Growth Mindset means that everyone can increase their intelligence and grow their minds through effort and persistence and that any challenges they face are just opportunities for growth.
We also encourage regular school attendance. Regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, avoid dangerous behavior and have a better chance of graduating from high school. When students regularly attend school, their grades and reading skills often improve—even among those students who are struggling in school. Students who attend school regularly also feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.
We invite parents and community members to become partners in the educational experience of our students, so please communicate with us so that we can help you find a way to get involved and make a difference.
