FSA ELA & FCAT2.0 Reading Retakes

FSA ELA & FCAT 2.0 Reading Retakes will begin on October 10th.

As a reminder to our students’ parents/guardians, the FSA ELA (for the class of 2017 and 2018) or FCAT 2.0 (for the class of 2016) is a graduation requirement for all standard diploma students.

We want to encourage all of our students to continue to read and enhance their reading comprehension and fluency, as reading is a life-long skill that will unlock so many doors of opportunity.

Title I Parent Night – Thursday 9/1

The 2016-2017 school year is off to a fantastic start at DCEC thanks to our students, parents, and staff!

This Thursday, September 1st, will be our first Title I Parent Night of the year. We will be hosting the event in Room 701 on our West Campus from 5pm to 6pm

Our focus for the evening is our annual review of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and Parental Involvement Plan (PIP). This yearly review is important for the parents & guardians of our students, as it allows them to get involved by providing suggestions and input for our SIP and PIP. A vote will be held at the conclusion of the evening to approve our SIP and PIP.

Congratulations to Mr. Johnson – SLPS Teacher of the Year

Honorees-1The entire Dale Cassens family congratulates the St. Lucie Public Schools’ 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Jeffrey Johnson

Mr. Johnson, in his statement at stlucieschools.org, said “I believe that all children are capable of success. Every child has a purpose, and every adult has a responsibility”

Mr. Jeffrey Johnson, Sr. provides structure, academic regimes, and a focused climate on achievement for his middle school students transitioning to high school at Dale Cassens Education Complex.  He supports his students’ studies in grade level mathematics and science as well as the facilitation of course recovery to support students in meeting their on-time graduation goals.

Mr. Johnson also appreciates the value of including a strong support network for his students, which is why he is passionate about including parents, coaches, pastors, and after-school organizations in the lives of his students. He endeavors to build strong bridges to solidify the home-to-school continuum for he believes that the cohesion of students, parents, community, and teachers maximize his students’ learning, provides his students with a greater sense of belonging, and inspires a subsequent desire in his students to participate in the lifelong learning process. He promotes a classroom culture that is dynamic, safe, and open for the sharing of thoughts and ideas.  (via SLPS)
