I am thrilled and honored to be the principal at Weatherbee Elementary.  For me, Weatherbee is like coming home because I grew up literally down the street and watched the school being built as a child.  Weatherbee is a true community school, grounded in family values and traditions.  With over 20 years in education as a teacher and leader, I look forward to continuing to grow here with our amazing faculty, staff and students.  I look forward to leading a school community built on respect, curiosity, and a deep commitment to learning.  Our dedicated staff works closely with families to create a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.  Together, we are laying the foundation for lifelong learning and success.   I am excited to begin this journey and look forward to all of the great things we will achieve together!
Warmly,
Heather Ricksecker
Principal

NEW! Register to Ride the Bus

The SLPS Transportation Department is implementing a new bus rider registration process for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.  This process requires all student riders – including both new and returning students – to complete registration prior to the start of school. Every student must be registered to ride the bus each school year.

Mariners Catch The Wave To Empowerment!

Weatherbee staff and students wore yellow and caught the wave to empowerment on Friday, September 27th. Each class designed a surfboard illustrating ways they feel empowered or can empower others. Weatherbee’s motto this year is “Catch the Wave to Success” and the surfboards help to illustrate that theme.
