In 2017, Fort Pierce Westwood High School became one of three schools that were recipients of the Magnet School Assistance Program Grant. Under this federal grant, the school received its new name Fort Pierce Westwood Academy: The WEST Prep Magnet: a school rich in traditions that are forging the way for new innovative programs. Students experience an advanced curriculum such as the prestigious Cambridge International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma Program, as well as Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment. Grant funds have made it possible for Fort Pierce Westwood Academy to become the only Leader in Me high school in the State of Florida. Applications for this premiere learning center is open to students across St. Lucie County. Students must complete a MSAP magnet application to be selected for enrollment.
Fort Pierce Westwood Academy utilizes a holistic approach to meeting the individual needs of our students. This concept focuses on a student-centered approach to teaching and learning. We are rooted in standards-based instruction to promote a conducive environment that uses informed, decision-making processes coupled with data to drive the instructional planning to increase student learning. We strive on equipping our students with the skills and knowledge in becoming future contributing members of the community.
