Congrats to our Science Students:
It is my pleasure to inform you that several of our students participated in the St. Lucie County Regional Science and Engineering Fair STEM Competition held on January 31st at the Knight Center. Please congratulate the following for their tremendous effort and scientific inquiry:
Ellyn Delano (11th) for her project “Think Before You Drink.” Ellyn placed 1st in the Biomedical category & won 2
Special Awards from Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association as well as the
Stockholm Jr. Water Prize.
Haley Hawkins (9th) for her project “Which Substrate do Ghost shrimp Prefer?” She placed 2nd in Animal Science
category.
Samuel Porter (11th) for his project “Gravitational Effect on a Siphon.” Sam placed 2nd in the Physics & Astronomy
category and won a special award from YALE Science & Engineering Association.
Melyna Vaudrin (9th) for her project “Chemical vs Biological” looking at the differences of whitefly control and she
placed 2nd in the category of Earth & Environmental Sciences.
Gabriel Yrola (10th) won a Special Award from Publix Supermarkets for his project on “Composting for the Future”.
Tomas Bhathena (9th) won 1st place in the Engineering category for his project “Sound Advice”.
Tomas will be representing FPWA at the Sate Science Fair to be held in Lakeland, FL, March 24th – 27, 2020.
