Coach Hoffman has been coaching at WEST PREP for five years. Since beginning to coach the tennis team in 2016, she has seen tremendous growth in the student athlete’s tennis abilities. While there is a lot to learn in a short amount of time, Coach Hoffman says, ” Once they get the basics, though, everyone has a great time and enjoys the competition.”
Coaching tennis also gives Coach Hoffman the ability to work with different students than she would see in the classroom. Tennis is a sport available to all grades and, since her classes only contain seniors, she gets to meet and build bonds with students on the court before they enter the classroom.
It is no secret that Coach Hoffman loves tennis; she says she loves it because “… it’s a sport anyone can play and at any age. It’s fun whether you’re just hitting or playing a match.”
In five years there have been many players that have played on WEST Prep’s tennis team and Coach Hoffman has found long-lasting bonds and positive impacts with each player. Many members of the coaching staff are still in contact with former athletes, and some of them even come home from college break to practice with the team.
