Dr. Sparacio’s and Ms. Maldonado’s 7th Grade Civics students represented Lincoln Park Academy with excellence at the St. Lucie Public Schools Project Citizen Showcase.
They have poured their time, energy, and heart into Project Citizen, and it truly shows. Dr. Sparacio’s Class project was a “Route Awakening: Driving Change in Our Community” and Ms. Maldonado’s Class project was “Be Seen, Be Safe. St. Lucie Public Schools Bust Stop Signs” started as an idea in our classroom and grew into a thoughtful, research-based public policy proposal focused on making a real difference.
These students didn’t just complete an assignment they took ownership of. They researched, debated, analyzed data, worked through disagreements, revised their ideas, and pushed themselves to make their work better. Watching them stand confidently and present their solutions was one of those teacher moments you never forget.
This is why we love teaching Civics. When students realize their voices matter, something clicks. They begin to see themselves not just as learners, but as leaders individuals with the power to positively impact their community.
We couldn’t be prouder of the growth, maturity, and dedication they showed throughout this process.
The future is in good hands.
