Attendance
Regular attendance is essential to academic success at Lincoln Park Academy. Students are expected to arrive on time and attend all scheduled classes during the day.
- Students must be in their first-period class by 7:22 a.m. to be considered on time.
- Students should remain in school until the end of the instructional day at 1:34 p.m. to be counted present for the full day.
Reporting an Absence
When a student is absent, a parent or guardian must provide written documentation within three (3) school days of the student’s return.
The written explanation should include:
- The student’s name
- Date(s) and/or time(s) of the absence
- The specific reason for the absence
- Parent/guardian signature (if applicable)
Any supporting documentation, such as medical notes or other relevant records, should be submitted along with the written explanation.
A Shared Commitment to Success
Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, maintain academic progress, and fully participate in the Lincoln Park Academy experience. We appreciate our families’ partnership in ensuring students arrive on time, attend regularly, and are prepared to learn each day.
Together, we can help every Greyhound achieve success and uphold #TheLPAStandard.
When Students Must Leave Early
At Lincoln Park Academy, we are committed to protecting instructional time and minimizing disruptions to the learning environment. To support student success, we ask families to schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. We understand that occasional early dismissals may be necessary and appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a strong academic focus throughout the school day.
Early Dismissal Procedures
To ensure a smooth and efficient process, please follow these guidelines:
- Send a written note with your student on the day an early dismissal is needed.
- Include the requested pickup time and reason for the early dismissal.
- Students should submit the note to the appropriate front office (Middle School or High School) before the start of the school day.
- The student should notify the teacher of the class they will be leaving from.
- At the designated time, the student will report to the front office and meet the parent/guardian.
- Parents or guardians must present identification and sign the student out through the front office.
Protecting Instructional Time
To minimize interruptions and maximize learning opportunities:
- Messages and forgotten items will not be delivered directly to classrooms during instructional periods.
- Students are encouraged to check for announcements during designated times built into the school day.
- Families are encouraged to plan appointments around the school schedule whenever possible.
- Students will not be dismissed after 1:00 p.m. except in emergency situations.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a focused learning environment where every minute of instruction counts. Together, we can ensure our Greyhounds have the opportunity to achieve their highest potential and uphold #TheLPAStandard.
Leaving Campus After School
To ensure the safety and supervision of all students, Lincoln Park Academy expects students to leave campus promptly at the conclusion of the school day unless they are participating in a school-sponsored activity under the direct supervision of a staff member.
After-School Expectations
- Students must leave campus within 15 minutes of dismissal unless they are involved in an authorized extracurricular activity, athletic event, tutoring session, or other school-sponsored program.
- Students who walk home should depart campus immediately following dismissal.
- Students may not remain on campus unsupervised after school hours.
- Parents and guardians are asked to make arrangements for prompt student pickup following dismissal.
Student Safety
Students remaining on campus after dismissal must be under the direct supervision of a school employee participating in an approved activity. This expectation helps ensure student safety, maintain adequate supervision, and support a secure campus environment.
We appreciate our families’ partnership in ensuring students are picked up on time and follow after-school procedures.
Emergencies
The safety and well-being of our students are a top priority at Lincoln Park Academy. To ensure we can respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, families are asked to keep all emergency contact information current and up to date throughout the school year.
Emergency Contact Procedures
To help us maintain a safe and secure campus:
- Every student must have current emergency contact information on file with the school.
- Students will only be released to a parent, guardian, or individual listed on the student’s emergency contact information unless prior arrangements have been made with the school.
- Anyone picking up a student must present a valid government-issued photo ID before the student can be released.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for notifying the school promptly of any changes to contact information, authorized pickup individuals, or emergency contacts.
Keeping Students Safe
Accurate emergency information allows school personnel to contact families quickly when necessary and helps ensure that students are released only to authorized individuals. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all Greyhounds.
