Students must successfully complete one of the following diploma options:

  • 24-credit optiondetails listed below
  • 18-credit Academically Challenging Curriculum to Enhance Learning (ACCEL) option
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma curriculum

24-credit High School Diploma

4 credits in English Language Arts (ELA)

  • English 1, 2, 3, 4
  • English Honors, IB, AICE, AP, Pre-IB, and dual enrollment courses may satisfy this requirement

4 credits in Math

  • One of which must be Algebra 1* and one of which must be Geometry*
  • Industry certifications that lead to college credit may substitute for up to two mathematics credits (except for Algebra 1 and Geometry).

3 credits in Science

  • One of which must be Biology I*, two of which must be equally rigorous science courses.
  • Two of the three required credits must have a laboratory component (Biology I counts as a laboratory component course).

3 credits in Social Studies

  • 1 credit in World History
  • 1 credit in U.S. History*
  • 5 credits in U.S. Government
  • 5 credits in Economics with Financial Literacy

1 credit Fine & Performing or Practical Arts

PSLHS offers the following courses to satisfy this requirement:

  • All art, music, band, dance, theater, and chorus courses
  • Culinary 2 (Must complete both Culinary Arts 1 AND 2)
  • Debate I
  • Technical Design 1 (Drafting)
  • Digital Information Technology
  • Digital Design (Yearbook)
  • TV Production 1
  • 2 years of JROTC (waiver)
  • Carpentry 2 (Must complete both Carpentry 1 AND 2)
  • Marketing Essentials

1 credit HOPE

8 elective credits

1 online course within 24 credits (Most students achieve this through their Economics with Financial Literacy course in 12th grade.)

Students must meet the state assessment requirements:

  • Grade 10 English Language Arts
  • Algebra I*

Students must earn a minimum 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale

*Students must participate in the EOC assessments. (The results constitute 30 percent of the final course grade. These assessments are in the following subjects: Algebra I, Biology I, U.S. History, Geometry.)
