Digital Art Imaging prepares students for a career in graphic design.
This is a Career Technical Education Program as well as a Visual Arts Program.
Based in Art and Design, the students will learn the 2 programs used most widely by the industry professionals: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
In Adobe Illustrator Students will learn how to design posters, logos, create graphics for apparel as well as design calendars.
Some projects include Portrait design, Inspirational Posters, Vinyl Album Cover, Back and Label Design, Video Game Packaging Design,
Typography Design and many other fun projects that inspire the students to create their own designs.
In Adobe Photoshop, students will learn photo composition, photo manipulation, create montages. They will learn about surrealism through Photoshop and will learn Photoshop through Surrealism
– one of the most interesting forms of art in art history. Students will learn how to work with type and typography and even create their own typeface.
There are two certifications that students will take in their 2nd year in the academy:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
These certifications the same as the ones given to potential employees in professional design agencies nationally and are renewable every 3 years.
The teacher, Ms. Babkie, has been a professional graphic designer for over 30 years and continues to design for herself personally and professionally.
