TIPS FROM OUR SENIOR STUDENTS:

  • Procrastinating about it will only lead to stress in your senior year when you realize some scholarships / colleges look for hours
  • Volunteer at an organization somewhere that correlates with you interests (you don’t want to spend your time working somewhere where you are going to be miserable)
  • Don’t be afraid to email or call an organization if you have questions
  • Document exactly how much you volunteer (even if the organization does it as well) & turn in your paperwork to Mrs. Sanders (registrar in the front office) after you make a copy for yourself à This is how you get your hours logged in Skyward
  • If volunteering at TCHS there is a paper log you will use (available in front office/SLC offices) & if volunteering offsite the organization will need to put the volunteer work details on their letterhead (see your counselor if you have any questions)
  • Set specific days and times to volunteer

GENERIC EMAIL: Hello! My name is _____. I am currently a student (or put the grade) student at Treasure Coast High School and seeking ways to give back to the community. While looking for ways to volunteer, I found your organization! I was wondering if you (or name of organization) currently needs volunteers. If so, I would love to volunteer with you guys. The best way to get ahold of me is by email, but if you would like to speak over the phone, my number is ________. I cannot wait to hear back from you. Have a wonderful day.
