Eight Comprehensive Programs
Indian River State College offers eight (8) comprehensive programs to enhance students academic enrichment and prepare them for post-secondary education.
- Saturday Masters Student Program for students in grades 6 – 12. Techniques on becoming a Master Student are explored.
- Tutorial Assistance & Mentorship Program provides tutoring and mentoring for grades 6-12.
- Summer Enrichment Program provides a three to four week academic experience for grades 6–8.
- Summer In-Residence Program provides eleventh grader with a real college life experience at Florida Atlantic University and/or Indian River Community College.
- Bi-Annual Course assessment provides a biannual course review and consultation with students in grades 8 –12, and their parents.
- College and University Exploration provides and ongoing reinforcement of the opportunities of post-secondary education.
- Master Parent Program provides activities and programs for parents to become actively involved in their child’s education.
- Project MENTOR provides mentoring for Black and Hispanic males through volunteer professional role models for students in grades 6 –12.
What will students do in the program?
- Basic Academic Skills Enrichment
- Intense academic instruction will be provided in the following subjects: English, mathematics, essay writing, critical thinking and problem solving

- Sessions on preparing for and attending college

- Study skills

How much time must I devote to the program?
Students will be expected to devote at least three (3) hours, twice a month, on Saturdays from 9:00a.m. to 12 noon for the duration of the program. Some additional assignments may be made in accordance with program objectives. Students seeking to improve their GPA, acquire a higher proficiency in math, or excel in grammar, essay writing and English composition may take advantage of the Reach-Out Tutorial Program. The tutorial program will be held daily at designated sites for two (2) hours from Monday through Thursday.
Will parents be involved?
Parents are invited and encourage to sit in on any of the scheduled activities. We also solicit parent volunteers as chaperones for field trips. Parents provide a vital source of support. Three parents will be selected to be members of the College Reach-Out Advisory Committee.
Will I earn high school or college credit for my participation on the program?
No, however, you will be a part of an enrichment program that will brighten your outlook in college and offer you a head start on preparing for college entrance. High school students with a 3.0 or better GPA may also be eligible for Dual Enrollment classes. Dual Enrollment students earn both high school and college credit.
