Program Overview
PSLHS Marketing is a hands-on, career-focused program where students learn branding, social media, sales, entrepreneurship, and event/project management. Students build portfolios, manage real school-based enterprises, and prepare for industry certifications that earn high-value acceleration points.
Courses & Pathways
- Year 1 – Marketing Essentials
Learn the marketing foundations (4P’s, customer focus, targeting/positioning) and how to market yourself for employment. Students begin professional tools and certification prep. - Year 2 – Marketing Applications
Deepen skills in advertising, promotion, product development/branding, selling, marketing research, pricing, distribution, e-commerce, and entrepreneurship projects (including Shark Tank). Students also take on bookstore training/operations. - Advanced Option – Sports, Recreation & Entertainment Marketing Management
Apply marketing to the sport, recreation, and entertainment industries: event design, sales, agents/managers, labor relations, and career planning. Includes major project/event work and industry interviews.
- Note: Course lists and pacing may shift to best meet class needs and opportunities (e.g., workshops/field trips).

- Certifications may be attempted multiple times during scheduled testing rounds with remediation support.
Grading & Expectations
Students are assessed with tests, quizzes, labs, readings, projects, and homework using a total-points system. Classwork is assigned most classes with ample time to complete; deadlines are posted on the board, in Skyward, and on Canvas.
Late Work

Accepted up to one week from the original date.

Unexcused absences: automatic 20% deduction.

If work is late past the expected time, students submit a Late Work Accountability Sheet before grading.

Extensions without penalty may be granted for legitimate reasons with a parent note/communication the day the student returns.

Extra credit cannot replace low classwork/test grades.
What Students Need
Please provide a ½-inch binder to stay in class for notes, career plans, and project research (space is planned so each student can store one). Proctor Agreements are required for certification testing.
