Port St. Lucie High School’s Building Construction Technologies program welcomed 20 students on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for an exciting day of hands-on learning during Careers in Construction Day, sponsored by Blue Collar Big Dollar and the Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA).
Under the leadership of Building Construction Technologies Instructor Dave Slover, students rotated through five career-focused stations led by local industry professionals. Participants gained valuable experience and insight into a variety of skilled trades, including welding, tile installation, HVAC, electrical work, and plumbing.
This unique opportunity allowed students to explore high-demand career pathways while learning directly from professionals working in the field. The event would not have been possible without the support and dedication of Jen Williams and Deb Frazier of the Treasure Coast Builders Association, who coordinated industry participation and generously provided breakfast and lunch for all students in attendance.
Port St. Lucie High School would also like to recognize the following business partners for sharing their time, expertise, and commitment to developing the future workforce:
-
Manning Building Supplies – Wendy & Austin Dittmar
-
Southpaw Plumbing & Metering Services – Adam Sampson
-
Hassell Free Tile & Windows – Marty Asprelli II
-
Ehman Electric – Jose Ramos
-
JCF Refrigeration – Josh Camacho
The success of Careers in Construction Day reflects the strong partnership between education and industry. By connecting students with experienced professionals, these businesses help inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople and demonstrate the many rewarding opportunities available in the construction industry.
Port St. Lucie High School extends its sincere appreciation to all of the industry experts and business partners who invested their time and knowledge to make this event a meaningful and memorable experience for students. Their support continues to make a lasting impact on workforce development and career readiness in St. Lucie County.
